Esthetics
Overview
At American Beauty School you will receive instruction in both theory and fundamental skills. The curriculum will provide a good foundation for a career in the industry and prepare students to take the New York State licensing exam. Classes are available in both English and Spanish.
The American Beauty School is a 9000 sq. foot facility on two floors – designed with the student in mind. We have a student cafeteria, workrooms, classrooms and a 2000 sq. foot student clinic located on the ground floor – so that students can have hands-on training practicing on real clients before entering a salon.

At the current time the American Beauty School does not offer the Esthetics Certificate Program. Esthetician programs teach esthetics students how to do facials, waxing, body wraps, anti-aging treatments, facial massages and more. Some of these topics are covered within our Cosmetology Certificate Program. Please refer to that page for more information.
Admissions Requirements
No 1 - Applicants must be 17 years of age. (High school seniors require parental consent.)
No 2 - High school diploma or General Equivalence Diploma (GED) is required for admission as a regular student. However students who do not have either one of the above credentials are required to take and pass the Ability-to-Benefit exam approved by state.
No 3 - Copy of birth certificate or other acceptable proof of age.
No 4 - For foreign-born applicants, when any of the required documentation for admission is impossible to provide, an affidavit of the same must be presented.

For Refresher Courses, proof of completion of 1000-hr course from a Cosmetology school or a valid license in Cosmetology must be provided.
Licensing Requirements
Completion of 600 hour course in Esthetics from a school licensed by the New York Education Department. Take and pass the written and practical exam given by the New York Licensing Department.
